Im Beisein des Präsidenten des Vereins der Freunde der Wiener Polizei, Adolf Wala, übergab Bürgermeister Dr. Michael Häupl am 20. November 2014 symbolisch 110.000 Euro an Wiens Polizeipräsidenten Mag. Dr. Gerhard Pürstl.
Die aktuelle Finanzierung von dringend benötigter moderner Schutz-Ausrüstung ist Teil eines Maßnahmenbündels der Stadt Wien zur Unterstützung der Wiener Polizei. Bereits 2009 wurden über den Verein der Freunde der Wiener Polizei Spezialkameras im Wert von 100.000 Euro zur Verfügung gestellt; 2010 wurden ebenso 175.000 Euro für die Anschaffung eines Informations- und Beratungsbusses finanziert.
